Australia Occupation Ceiling For the Program Year 2019-2020
Occupation Ceilings basically refer to the limit on the total number of invitations that the immigration authority can issue annually through SkillSelect.
Each occupation group has an associated occupation ceiling and once any occupation group reaches its ceiling, no further invitations can be issued for that particular program year. This means that the candidate will not get an invitation to apply for a specific visa or visa irrespective of their points.
It is important for you to go through the Combined Current List of eligible skilled occupations first in order to determine whether your occupation falls under the visa program of your choice or not.
Australia CSOL (Combined Skilled Occupation List) mentions the high demand occupations as per their labor market need to fill the labor shortage in Australia.
The Skilled Occupation List is formulated for those qualified and skilled workers who are looking for short and long-term skilled Australian jobs.

The list displays a combination of occupations mentioned in STSOL and MLTSSL. You can check whether your nominated occupation is mentioned on Combined Skilled Occupational Demand List or not.
This list can provide you better clarity about your particular visa type and can help you in making a decision as to which visa is available for you on the basis of the occupation you choose.
The table drawn below shows the occupation ceilings for 2019-2020 of eligible skilled occupations by ANZSCO code. The Occupation ceiling values are decided upon the stock employment percentage for each occupation, which is provided by the Australian Bureau of Statistics. These stock employment percentages basically represent the total number of employed people in each occupation in Australia.
Please note, the occupation ceilings don t apply to State or Territory Nominated, Investment and Employer-Sponsored or Business Innovation visa subclasses. It is applicable only on independent, skilled regional (provisional) visas and there is a limit on the total number of EOIs to be selected from a particular occupation group.
