South Australia has updated their State Nomination Policy
With a recent implementation of new Australian immigration rules, like an introduction of new Visa Subclass 491 and updates in the GSM points test system, the Immigration SA has also revised its state nomination policies and the SNOL (State Nominated Occupation Lists).
Immigration South Australia has made the following changes:
Updated points requirement for designated categories as well as occupations:
With changes to the points test system of DHA, the Immigration South Australia has also revised its points requirement for all those occupations that are mentioned under SNOL (State Nominated Occupation Lists). Majorly, points requirements for English and work experience have been updated for a few occupations.
- So, now applicants have to score either 75 or 85 points on the points test for many occupations (you may refer the State Nominated Occupation Lists for more details).
- For the South Australia International Graduate category and most trade occupations, the points requirement is still 65 points.
- For high points category applicants, now the points requirements are 95 points that also includes state nomination points.
- For chain migration category applicants, now the points requirements are 75 points that also include state nomination points.
- For a few managerial occupations mentioned on the SNOL, chain migration applicants need to score 85 points as well.

Updated eligibility requirements for Visa Subclass 190 state nomination
A majority of occupations are listed as Provisional 491 visa on the State Nominated Occupation Lists and doesn t have access to Visa 491 nomination. While, except those occupations, rest all the occupations are listed "Provisional 491 visa only - 190 nomination offered to applicants under specific circumstances only".
For all those applicants who wish to apply for Visa Subclass 190 nomination, there are a few changes done to the eligibility requirement, which are listed below:
- Must be a high points applicant and have a work experience of minimum 8 years in any nominated occupation and have a superior English
- Must have experience of working in a skilled occupation in South Australia for a minimum 1 year
- Must be a High Performing Graduate from South Australia and have completed a PhD or Masters from a South Australian public university
- Must be an international graduate from South Australia and been working for the last 6 months in any skilled occupation in SA
- Must be an international graduate of SA living in SA from last 5 years and working for the last 3 months in any skilled occupation in SA

Updated application fee for state nominations:
For all the state nomination applications, there is a rise in the application fees for up to 10%. This is applicable only for all the applications submitted under the South Australian state nomination. This fee increase will apply to all applications from 4 December 2019. View details of the fee structure here.
Please note, all the changes have been implemented since 4th December 2019.
