Queensland state nomination skilled migration program (2023-24)

Migration Queensland officially announced the start of its state nomination skilled migration program for the year 2023-24 on September 5, 2023. The state has been allocated 1,550 skilled nominations for this year. However, there is no allocation for the Business Innovation and Investment Program (BIIP) from the Department of Home Affairs in Australia, which means that competition for Queensland s state-nominated program will be high.

Migration Queensland intends to start issuing Invitations to Apply (ITAs) to selected applicants at the end of September 2023. Invitation rounds will continue to take place at the end of each month throughout the 2023-24 financial year. The monthly quotas for invitations will be limited to maintain a constant and fair rate of invitations throughout the program year.

If you are interested in applying for Queensland nomination, it is essential to first review the eligibility criteria provided by both the Department of Home Affairs and Migration Queensland. If you fulfil all the eligibility requirements and wish to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI), you must create a completely new EOI in SkillSelect. Migration Queensland will only consider EOIs submitted on or after September 5, 2023; updated EOIs will not be considered.

Victoria s Skilled Migration Program for the year 2023-24 is now open

This program allows skilled migrants living in Victoria and overseas to pursue a pathway to permanent residency in Victoria, Australia. To be eligible for state nomination for either the Skilled Nominated Visa Subclass 190 or Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) Visa Subclass 491, you must submit a Registration of Interest (ROI).

There have been changes to the Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) visa (subclass 491) for Victoria nomination in the 2023-24 program. Onshore applicants are now required to be living and employed in regional Victoria at the time of nomination to be eligible. It s essential to note that some suburbs on the outskirts of Melbourne are considered part of the regional zones defined by the Department of Home Affairs (DHA) in Australia.

As a result of this change, if you previously submitted a subclass 491 ROI in the 2022-23 program and were not selected, you will need to submit a new ROI if you still meet the eligibility criteria.
