Australia Occupation ceilings for skilled migration programs

  • Views - (194567)

Australia's Department of Immigration has recently released the occupation ceilings for all the skilled migration programs, which is applicable for the year 2019-20. This clearly indicates that there would be a limit on the number of 'Expressions of Interest' (EOIs) or invites that can be selected or issued from an occupation group for skilled migration.

The main objective behind this occupation ceiling done by the government of Australia is to ensure that the various small number of occupations may not outshine the skilled migration program.

Before you apply for the Australian migration via skilled migration programs, you are required to ensure that your occupation is listed on the SOL (Skilled Occupation List). Currently, the list has approximately 200 occupations listed and is updated regularly by the DHA (Department of Home Affairs).

Once any occupation reaches its ceiling cap, no further invitations will be issued for that specific occupation or program until next year. This way, the concept of occupation ceilings may help applicants better figure out that which occupations are most in-demand in the labor market of Australia.
